Thanks to the 28-day detox plan, I am feeling more energetic all the time! Instead of my usual morning coffee routine (where I often drank four cups before even heading out the door) I’ve been drinking just a small amount caffeine-free herbal coffee with my breakfast.

I’ll be honest, most days I don’t feel hungry when I wake up and I really don’t feel like getting up and cooking eggs. But I remember that if I eat eggs, they will help me feel energized throughout the day and not crave caffeine. In fact, I’ve learned that my diet has a big impact on how I feel throughout the day.

My afternoon is broken up into smaller meals to keep me satisfied and my energy levels up. Around midmorning I eat a piece of fruit and a few almonds. At noon, I’ll have a Greek yogurt and a string cheese and at 3 p.m. or so, I eat a nectarine. For dinner, my boyfriend Bill cooks us a chicken-and-veggie concoction, pulled pork or fresh fish. Below is a typical dinner for us: side salads, sweet potatoes and chicken as the main dish. Caffeine used to keep me focused and alert, but I’m finding that fueling with the right foods has the same effect.
