So far in this journey, I am learning a lot about my acid-reflux situation, and really feel like I am pampering my body by following this new healthy diet. I am going to turn into a rabbit with all of the green vegetables I am eating! My new routine is to clean all of the veggies I buy when I get home from the grocery store and place them in containers, so they are ready to go when it’s mealtime. I carry little bags of raw pine nuts, pumpkin seeds and almonds as a snack when I am on the go. I can have decaffeinated coffee, but I’m so paranoid about the risk of a burning sensation in my throat that I drink a huge glass of coconut water immediately after to make sure I won’t have any issues. I also purchased a reusable bottle so if decide to eat out, I have my beverage of choice to neutralize the acidity in my meal.
Dr. Rosser explained every phase of my journey to combat my acid-reflux situation and assured me that we will work our way off all of the medications I’m on, leaving a simple maintenance plan in their place. I have never taken my medications correctly, and this has caused the damage to my throat. I told him how I recently crashed on my low-acid diet. His advice was to always carry coconut water with me, and for every acidic food I eat, I must have two alkaline foods to neutralize that acid. I’m most surprised that I have zero bloating with this new diet. I look different and most importantly, feel amazing.
Dr. Rosser also suggested I take his Heartburn Risk Test to help chart my progress. I am following the rules on my medications and I am praying for astounding results. I now wait an hour after my morning pill to eat, and at night I take my evening pill with a big glass of water, being vigilant about waiting three hours before I lay down. I drink water, unsweetened almond milk and coconut water as my main sources of hydration. Now that my house has so many low-pH foods in it, I can’t go wrong! I’m so excited to be making progress and look forward to much more!
