Mike Roizen, MD

Dr. Roizen lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with his wife Dr. Nancy Roizen, Developmental Pediatrician and chair of developmental pediatrics and psychology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland. Their son, Jeffrey, MD, PhD is at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, and daughter, Jennifer is a PhD candidate at CalTech in California, with post-doc planned at Stanford.

Dr. Roizen is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Williams College and Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine. He performed his residency in internal medicine at Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital; Anesthesiology at University of California at San Francisco; and Public Health Service at the National Institutes of Health in the laboratory of Irv Kopin and Nobel Prize winner Julius Axelrod.

While Dr. Roizen is a past chair of a Food and Drug Administration advisory committee and a former editor for six medical journals with more than 165 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 100 textbook chapters, 30 editorials, 4 medical books (one, a medical bestseller, now in third edition), and has received 13 US and many foreign patents. He is also the co-author of four  #1 New York Times best sellers: the YOU series. He has been a founder of seven companies, five of which are still in existence or were sold to other companies.

His first general audience book, RealAge: Are You as Young as You Can Be? became a #1 New York Times bestseller and was awarded the Best Wellness Book of 1999 by the Books for a Better Life Awards. RealAge has been translated into more than 20 languages and was #1 in four other countries, displacing Harry Potter for seven days as #1 on Amazon. Other books include the New York Times bestseller The RealAge Diet: Make Yourself Younger With What You Eat, written with Dr. John La Puma, Cooking the RealAge Way, also with Dr. La Puma, and The RealAge Makeover. His book, YOU: The Owner’s Manual, written with Dr. Mehmet Oz, debuted in May 2005 and became a #1New York Times bestseller.
