The Secret of Summer Skin: Feed Your Face

face washingYou don’t have to venture to some fancy schmancy spa to get your summer glow on. Scoring healthy, beautiful skin could be as simple as opening your refrigerator and whipping up a homemade cleanser, mask or moisturizer. That’s because seasonal fresh fruits – which are chock-full of all sorts of yummy nutrients – can be just as tasty for your face as they are for your taste buds.

Vitamins from fruit applied topically help reduce sun damage, natural enzymes clean out the pores, and the naturally high water content helps soothe redness, especially when the fruit is cold!

So head down to your local farmer’s market, gather up some of the season’s best produce, and get ready to mash, slather and scrub your way to more beautiful summer skin.

Here’s a recipe to get you started.

Spend a little too much time in the sun lately? This all-natural soothing ointment helps calm inflamed skin, and it contains high amounts of ellagic acid, an antioxidant that has been shown to protect against the damage caused by UV rays.
