Dr. Darria Long Gillespie, FACEP, is a board certified emergency physician at Northside Hospital and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. Dr. Long Gillespie is also Executive Vice President of Clinical Strategy at Sharecare, where she answers users’ health and wellness questions on her blog “Ask Dr. Darria,” and brings her expertise as a physician to the development of Sharecare’s products and program offerings.

Dr. Long Gillespie earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, her residency in emergency medicine from Yale University School of Medicine and her MBA from Harvard Business School. After residency she joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School, where she worked in the ER at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Dr. Long Gillespie says “Early in my career, I saw patients being frightened by inaccurate medical information they saw on the news or online. This propelled me to have a public voice—I want to give people the most accurate information, delivered in the same clear and compassionate way that I would try to do if we were face-to-face in the ER.”

Dr. Long Gillespie regularly appears on both TV and radio and in print media, and has been an expert guest nationally on CNBC, FoxNews and The Dr. Oz show. She is also host of “Sharecare Radio” on iHeart radio. She appears regularly on NBC 11 Alive Atlanta and Fox WAGA Atlanta.

Dr. Long Gillespie has authored a chapter in the preeminent text of Emergency Medicine, and both published and presented research in disciplines including plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery and hospital strategic/financial business development.
